Local favourites Yazdani Club-73 emerged champions in the 8th Pravakar Das Memorial Football Tournament, defeating Mangala Club (Cuttack) 2-0 in the final at Unit-VI High School ground here today. Prasant Naik and Santosh Tudu scored the two goals. Tudu was adjudged man of the match, while the player of the tournament award was claimed by Santosh Naik.
Earlier in the semifinals, Club-73 thrashed Government Sports Hostel (Cuttack) 3-0, while Mangala Club edged out Green Club (Bhubaneswar) 8-7 in penalty shoot out. Falcon Marine CMD Tara Patnaik gave away the trophy at the closing function. The champion team received Rs 10,000 and the runners-up Rs 5,000.
Altogether eight teams participated in the tournament, which was organised by Unit-VI Athletic Association. Utkal Sporting (Jatni), Gallant Club (Cuttack), Bir Bajrang Club and Unit-VI Athletic Association were other four teams in the fray.
